Project Details

For this design project, myself and 3 other students chose to address the increasingly prevalent issue of preterm labor. Preterm labor is hard to identify and without immediate treatment, can pose a great health risk to fetuses. To address this issue we created software and designed a wearable device and safe housing capable of identifying preterm labour in women with high-risk pregnancies to reduce the likelihood of complications and ease their transition through labor. The device features a minimalistic, comfortable and convenient design with software capable of taking readings from an FSR sensor and determining what type of contractions the user is experiencing.
